This has been recorded in the history that when Hazrat Khidr (Alaihis Salaam) arrived in Baghdad to meet Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jilani (ra), he found him alone there with his eyes on the Quran. There was no one around him. As the Holy Prophet (saws) had said earlier, Hazrat Khidr (Alaihis Salaam) would take off his clothes only in a mansion he has not built. Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jilani (ra) said, Thou art the Adam and I am the Archangel Gabriel. As the Prophet (saws) said that when the eye of the lute (qalam) is fixed on the qalam (here Quran) by one skilled in reciting it, it will reveal the truth of the qalam (here Quran) to one who is unacquainted with its matters. Who is more skilled in reciting it than I? He then said, I am addressing thee so that you should recite it for me. Then he took the Quran by the first letter of the qalam and said, O Gabriel! This verse is called Itriqan, and it relates to the fact that the followers of the Quran who after being deprived of Quran for periods of time, may it be in the form of Sytah or some other event, are filled with faith in the Almighty and repent a great deal. Thus, when they are able to meet their Prophet (saws) again, they ask the Prophet (saws) to recite it to them once more and they become firm in their faith in him. In other words, they repent, yet Allah relents from their sin and forgives them. This verse is the greatest gift of the Prophet (saws) to the Muslims.
